our story

Co-founded by Alf and Nadia Taylor, who arrived as immigrants to Australia in the late 60s, TNA’s story, is one of hope. Having worked in the snack industry at the beginning of their career, Alf and Nadia branched out on their own as consultants to the food industry in 1982. A year later, Alf sketched a revolutionary idea that what would go on to become the world’s first rotary high-speed vertical form fill and seal packaging machine. Till date, the tna robag® remains unmatched in technology, performance, and reliability, continuing to dominate the industry as the most sought-after vertical bagging system globally.

TNA was conceptualised with a global vision, and soon the company expanded to Europe, Americas, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Over the years, TNA acquired snack and confectionery processing systems, enhancing the portfolio with advanced technology and innovation, to become the preferred single-source partner for food manufacturers worldwide.

TNA came to life as an innovative disruptor in the packaging industry – and today provides the revolutionary food processing and packaging technology producers need for success. We work in collaboration with our customers, delivering end-to-end solutions that streamline workflows and bring consistently high-quality products to market quickly.

Beyond our core business goals, we apply our passion for social justice through our humanitarian organisation, the Nadia and Alf Taylor Foundation. What began as a personal philanthropy project led by our founders, has since evolved into a foundation supporting 150+ charities across 43 countries, positively impacting the lives of more than 20,000 people.

TNA is powered by its people, their passion, drive, and commitment to providing the best solutions and services for our customers. We take time to understand and bridge the gaps in our customers’ production lines with technologically advanced equipment that is both reliable and future proof. Our extensive experience across a wide variety of customers allows us to understand the market and its challenges.

Using these insights, we adapt what we do and the way we work in line with the ‘3Ps Principle’ – doing what’s right for People, Planet and Prosperity. From the very beginning, TNA has been fuelled by freedom and curiosity: the freedom to rethink the conventional, challenge the status quo and build better systems by doing things differently.

For us, imagination knows no bounds. We follow inspiration to the next new development, combining freedom of thought with solid technical knowhow. This is the ethos that has powered the company’s success since its founding in 1982.

Alf Taylor – Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

Alf Taylor, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TNA, has 42+ experience in the food packaging industry. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Alf joined Arnotts Biscuits as a packaging engineer in 1976. By 1980, aged just 29, he was managing the entire Arnotts Snack Foods manufacturing site in Smithfield, NSW. In 1982, Alf set up TNA as consulting engineers to the food packaging industry. In 1983, frustrated by the complex, slow and inefficient bag-making machines then used throughout the industry, he decided to go into equipment manufacturing, and set about developing a Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFFS) system that would increase productivity and reduce waste for his clients. The first of these systems, the tna robag®, redefined performance standards for VFFS systems, and quickly established TNA as a global player in the packaging industry. Today, the tna robag® is the best-selling VFFS system in the world and TNA markets a wide range of products and services to provide integrated packaging and processing solutions to its valued customers around the globe.
