Leading food processing and packaging equipment supplier acquires Sabalpack and presents new packaging solution for fresh and frozen sector
Sydney, 24 November 2016 – tna has announced the launch of a new vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) system with full wash-down functionality. Featuring a hygienic design, the tna arctic® 3 is able to run efficiently and reliably in hostile wet and cold processing environments, whilst maintaining the highest levels of sanitation and flexibility. The announcement comes as the company confirms it acquired Sabalpack, a leading Italian manufacturer of all stainless steel VFFS technology for the fresh and frozen sector, earlier this year. The tna arctic 3 is the latest generation of Sabalpack’s existing arctic range of full wash-down VFFS systems and the result of the combined engineering expertise of the Australian packaging pioneer and the Italian fresh/frozen expert.
“We’re extremely excited to announce the integration of Sabalpack into the tna business together with the launch of the tna artic 3,” comments Michael Green, group general manager at tna. “We see immense opportunities in the fresh and frozen foods sector – in particular as people continue to look for foods that blend convenience, health and indulgence. Food manufacturers in this segment, however, need to adhere to some of the strictest sanitary regulations, so a simple and hygienic equipment design is critical. Sabalpack has a long history in the development of all stainless steel equipment, which made the company’s portfolio a great fit for our own range of high performance VFFS technology.”
Green further adds: “Our engineers have been working nonstop over the last few months to combine tna’s renowned engineering ingenuity with Sabalpack’s long-standing expertise in the fresh and frozen sector. The result is a system that not only conforms with the harsh environments and rigorous sanitation requirements of the fresh and frozen industry, but that also meets tna’s high standards in terms of flexibility, simplicity and performance, including software and hardware upgrades that ease operation and facilitate up and downstream equipment integration.”
Central to the design of the new tna arctic 3 is the system’s A2 (AISI 304) stainless steel, corrosion-resistant cubicle, which ensures that key components like motors, vacuum pump and sealing jaws are fully protected from any dirt or water ingress. In addition, a separate electrical cabinet and user-friendly external, side-swinging touchscreen further aid ease-of-operation, facilitate sanitation and simplify cleaning operations. With an IP65 (NEMA 4x) rating, the tna arctic 3 is able to withstand intensive wash-down procedures – a key consideration in the fresh and frozen sector, where frequent sanitation is essential to comply with stringent global hygiene standards.
Capable of both constant and impulse sealing, the tna arctic 3 delivers superior sealing performance and accuracy on a wide range of packaging films, including laminated polypropylene and polyethylene films like LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene). It also supports multiple bag options, including pillow, gusseted and square bottom bags, plus multipacks, offering manufacturers complete application flexibility on a single packaging system.
Green further adds: “The global demand for fresh and frozen foods shows no signs of slowing down and flexibility will be key for long-term commercial success. Today’s food manufacturers need equipment that allows them to quickly change their production setup to adapt to the ever-changing market demands. At tna, we’ve always been committed to providing our customers with forward-thinking solutions that can deliver long-term benefits and the tna arctic 3 is no exception. It’s a great addition to our portfolio and can be seamlessly integrated with our wider range of industry-leading processing and packaging solutions. Whether its multi-head weighers, conveyers, date coders, metal detectors or inserters and labellers, we’re able to support fresh and frozen manufacturers with complete solutions from a single source.”
